writing challenge

I accepted this lovely challenge from Sabina Varga:

Write about a memory of writing something that felt meaningful.
It doesn’t have to be profound. Maybe it was a school essay, a diary entry, or even a text message to a friend or crush. What mattered is that it felt like it was yours, and it mattered.
Not everyone has a clear “first spark,” and that’s fine. If nothing comes to mind, treat today as your chance to create that moment. Why is it meaningful to you to write today?

Today, it feels meaningful because I get to write about a moment my family shared — one that warmed our hearts at the beginning of December.

At the beginning of the month, I wanted to watch a family movie that would truly bring us into the Christmas spirit, with moments that make everyone laugh and feel at home. “Craciun cu Ramon” was exactly what I wanted for my family. We left the cinema smiling and feeling the warmth of the holiday season.

The story follows Ramon (played by Pavel Bartoș), a loving husband and soon-to-be father who never stays too far from adventure. This time, he sets off on a secret mission to find his partner’s missing niece and bring her home in time for the holidays. His journey leads to plenty of funny situations, emotional moments, and heartwarming scenes that capture the true spirit of Christmas — kindness, family, and the importance of being there for one another.

It isn’t just a holiday movie; it’s a story told with humor and so much heart. Pavel Bartoș, Andreea Vasile, Anastasia Haiducu, Alina Chivulescu, Bogdan Farcaș, and Adrian Titieni made every scene feel real. They share the joy of Christmas with us.

The beautiful decorations in Oradea, the Christmas Market, and the festive lights made the experience even more magical — as if we were walking through a city full of holiday cheer. Director Jesús del Cerro, a Spaniard who seemed sent by God (as Pavel Bartoș says), captured Romanian Christmas so well that it felt as if he were from our own country.

At the end of the movie, the actors came out and surprised us, making the evening even more special. I walked out of the cinema happy and reminded that Christmas magic really can exist, even in the middle of everyday life.

This movie is the most beautiful Christmas gift you can give yourselves. Come to the cinema and spend quality time with the people you love most. 🙂
